How do I access the samba share on Linux using terminal

You will not see the

smbmount

command works on nowadays, But now it is using Common Internet File System” (CIFS) rather than smb file system using smbmount.

[root@rc-138 sharepoint]# mount -t cifs //10.10.0.120/Network-Sharepoint /mnt/sharepoint/

Where,
//10.10.0.120 /Network-Sharepoint = Anonymous samba share on 10.10.0.120
/mnt/sharepoint = where share is mapped to local system.

How do I access window file sharing from linux desktop.

#mount -t cifs //192.168.10.14/shared/ -o username=fileuser,password=pass /mnt/share1

This will mount the windows share “/192.168.10.14/shared” in linux machine after the authentication. Pls note that samba sharing didn’t use any password encryption. So do not use any administrative account to share the file share.

a. Create a user

b. add this user in a new ‘samba” group

c. Remove the user’s group from the user account. This would be a preferable file sharing access.

How do I access the window share from commandline.
