WHM cpanel : Renewing Godaddy UCC certificates

I had installed Godaddy UCC certificate ( this certificate can protect upto 5 domains) an year before and now it’s time to renew it. Just after initiating the CSR request through the Godaddy account I got the certificate issued by Godaddy after completing the website validation. Pls note that you need to use the same CSR which had been used for earlier install.

After download the certificates locally and login to the WHM admin pannel. Unfortunately you will not able to update/install the new SSL certificate except for the primary domain which used for issuing UCC certificate.

Solution :

a. I switched back the command line administration ie Login to server over ssh and identify the path of existing ssl certificates copied by opening the apache conf. file ( /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf) Found that it was under “/etc/ssl/certs“.

SSLCertificateFile /etc/ssl/certs/www.mydomain.co.uk.crt
SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/ssl/private/www.mydomain.co.uk.key
SSLCACertificateFile /etc/ssl/certs/www.mydomain.co.uk.cabundle

b. I copy the new SSL certificate uploaded to server or may use vi editor and can copy the content which is fairly easy to do.
c. take a backup of existing domain certs and replace it with my newly downloaded SSL.

root@web_server[/etc/ssl/certs]# ls
gd_bundle.crt
web_server.live-servers.net.crt
www.mydomain.co.uk.cabundle
www.mydomain.co.uk.crt
www.mydomain.co.uk.crt_bak
www.mydomain.co.uk.csr
www.mysite.co.uk.cabundle
www.mysite.co.uk.crt
root@web_server[/etc/ssl/certs]# mv www.mysite.crt www.mysite.com.crt_bak
root@web_server[/etc/ssl/certs]# cp www.my_new_domain_ssl.co.uk.crt www.mysite.crt
root@serverweb_server[/etc/ssl/certs]# service httpd restart

This is the best tweak to get the new ssl installed since the WHM/Cpanel does not suppose to install a common SSL to shared with other domains.
