Installing php-mcrypt on CentOS 6

How do I install php-mcrypt module in Centos 6 ?

I did install it many times on CentOS 5 x86_64 platform using yum. This time my platform is little different and my vendors does support php-mcrypt package on their repository.

Identifying OS platform

[root@sandbox installation]# cat /etc/issue
Scientific Linux release 6.2 (Carbon)

I did add rpmforge repository but the result was same. Finally I got it from Google lead me to use EPEL additional repository to fix it.

So I reached EPEL repo ,download and installed.

[root@sandbox installation]# wget http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/x86_64/php-mcrypt-5.3.3-1.el6.x86_64.rpm

  • Thanks for posting the outcome of yur work. I find it interesting. I did not get the expected result I get:

    [root@sl63 /]# rpm -ivh php-mcrypt-5.3.3-1.el6.x86_64.rpm
warning: php-mcrypt-5.3.3-1.el6.x86_64.rpm: Header V3 RSA/SHA256 Signature, key ID 0608b895: NOKEY
    error: Failed dependencies:

How can I get past this obstacle. I have not been working with Linux that long.

    Regards, Ramon
